It all started with a little article in the German magazine "Der Spiegel".
They mentioned salad oil from supermarkets as an alternative to diesel fuel. Of course you wonder if it really works. But the price difference of 0,40 DM made me adventurous. I just tried it. I poured 15 litres straight into the tank and went off for a long test drive to the north sea. Since there were no problems, I filled up the tank completely in a car park at a supermarket in Emden. After a lot of research in the web and the usenet, I drove with pure salad oil for the next 12.000km. But you can get it even cheaper: I'm now having my rape oil delivered home to my by Tanker. I built a small filling station with two tanks 1000 l combined each. I haven't make any changes to my car at all.
I're keen driving, driving and driving... already upt. 204.000 km - 200D and 254.000 km - 250TD.
